The UK price of one whole coin

The headline figure is the sterling price of a single, complete bitcoin. It updates live, so the pence can change while you watch. It does not mean you need that much to take part. Bitcoin is divisible, and most people hold a fraction of one coin.

The pound price keeps its own record, separate from the dollar one. The highest it has reached is £93,529.00, on 6 October 2025.

The percentage beside the price compares now with the same moment yesterday, and the range underneath gives the day’s low and high in pounds. Together they show whether the figure on your screen sits near the top or the bottom of the last 24 hours. Neither says anything about where the price goes next.

Pence, pounds and sats

Sterling has 100 pence to the pound, and Bitcoin has 100 million sats to the coin, so the two small units line up neatly. Right now £1 buys about 1,592 sats. Divide that by 100 and you have roughly what a single penny buys.

That makes small amounts easy to picture. £10 is ten times the sats per pound and £50 is fifty times, and the table on this page works out £10, £50, £100 and £1,000 exactly. The satoshi page explains the unit in more depth. A pound’s worth of sats is a handy mental yardstick when you see small balances quoted elsewhere.

How much is half a bitcoin in pounds?

Halve the live price. For 0.1 bitcoin take a tenth, and for 0.01 bitcoin take a hundredth. The converter on this page and the separate Bitcoin calculator both accept any figure, including long decimals, and work in either direction.

If you want older figures for comparison, the price history page lists earlier years. The best-known early purchase happened on 22 May 2010, when someone paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas; multiply 10,000 by the live price to see what those coins would fetch in pounds now.

Why UK price sites rarely agree to the penny

Most Bitcoin trading is in US dollars, and a pound price is usually a dollar price converted at the current GBP/USD rate. Sites lean on different trades, different rates and different update timing, so their sterling figures part ways by a little. Our guide to how prices work shows where this number comes from. Rounding to the nearest pound accounts for some of the difference too.
