Make sure you are reading PKR
More than one currency is called the rupee, and each has its own code. This page shows the Pakistani rupee, PKR, usually written Rs on price tags. If a figure elsewhere looks very different from this one, check that its code is PKR before anything else.
The number above is the price of a single, whole bitcoin. It works as a reference point, much like gold is quoted per tola even when someone buys less than a tola.
Lakh and crore in a rupee price
Lakh and crore are common in Pakistan alongside millions. One lakh is 100,000 and one crore is 10,000,000, which equals 100 lakh, so 250 lakh and 2.5 crore are the same amount. To turn the live price into lakh, divide it by 100,000; to get crore, divide by 10,000,000.
The shorter wording under the price, about Rs 2.3 crore, gives a quick sense of scale when the full figure has too many digits to take in at a glance.
Rs 1,000 in sats
Bitcoin divides into 100,000,000 satoshis, so rupee amounts convert neatly. Right now Rs 1 gets you about 4.33 sats. For Rs 1,000, multiply by a thousand; the table on this page also shows Rs 5,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 100,000.
Going the other way, 0.01 BTC is a hundredth of the headline price, and half a bitcoin is half of it; the conversion table shows both. Use the converter above or the Bitcoin calculator for any other amount, and see the satoshi page for more on the unit.
Why sites quote different PKR figures
A rupee price is normally a US-dollar price multiplied by a dollar-rupee rate, and sites don’t all use the same rate. Timing and data sources add small differences on top. Our explanation of how prices work covers this page’s sources. Prices from earlier years are on the price history page. Comparing two figures taken at different times will also show a gap that has nothing to do with the source.
Halvings and the supply behind the price
Every 210,000 blocks, the number of new bitcoin created per block is cut in half. These halvings happened in November 2012, July 2016, May 2020 and April 2024. They change how quickly new coins appear, not how many rupees a coin costs on a given day.
The page on how many bitcoin are left explains what the halvings mean for supply.
