Counting the zeros in the naira price
The naira price of Bitcoin is a long figure. Group its digits in threes from the right: the first group is naira, the next is thousands, the one after that is millions. The short form, about ₦111 million, does that counting for you. Miscounting by one group of three turns millions into thousands, so it is worth reading the words as well as the digits.
This figure is for one complete coin. Nobody needs that whole sum to own Bitcoin, because a coin splits into 100 million satoshis and you can hold any number of them.
How much is 0.1 bitcoin in naira?
One tenth of the live price: move the decimal point one place to the left and you have it. For 0.01 bitcoin, move it two places; for half a bitcoin, halve it. The conversion table above lists 0.001, 0.01, 0.1 and 0.5 BTC in naira so you can read them straight off, half a coin included.
Going the other way, ₦1 buys about 0.90 sats right now. So ₦5,000 is five thousand times as many sats, and the converter handles ₦50,000, ₦500,000 or any other amount you type.
Why the naira price can rise while Bitcoin stands still
Bitcoin is priced mainly in US dollars. To get a naira figure, the dollar price is multiplied by the dollar-to-naira rate. Two numbers feed the result, and each can move on its own.
A simple case: if Bitcoin’s dollar price is unchanged over a week, but one dollar costs 10% more naira at the end of it, the naira price of one bitcoin is also about 10% higher. Nothing about Bitcoin changed; only the conversion did. The same sum works in reverse when the naira gains, so a quiet week for Bitcoin can still be a busy one for the naira figure.
Different sites, different naira figures
Two sites can disagree on the naira price by a noticeable amount, and the exchange rate is usually the reason. One may convert at one dollar-naira rate and another at a different one, while a trading platform may show prices from its own users’ trades. Our page on how prices work sets out which sources this page uses. A gap of a few percent is usually a rate difference rather than a different Bitcoin price.
For any amount not in the tables, the Bitcoin calculator converts both ways.
