How to use the BTC to USD converter
Enter a number in the BTC box and its dollar value appears beside it. Enter dollars instead and the calculator works out how much bitcoin that money buys. Both sides use the live rate shown above, so the result changes when the price does.
The currency menu switches the money side from US dollars to another currency. The table below the calculator does the common sums for you, from 0.0001 BTC up to one whole coin.
How much is 0.01 bitcoin worth?
Multiply the price of one coin by the amount you hold. With bitcoin at $82,175.00, 0.01 BTC is worth one hundredth of that, and 0.1 BTC one tenth. Both rows are in the table, already worked out at the current rate.
A quick check you can do in your head: moving the decimal point one place to the left divides the value by ten. So 0.1 BTC is worth ten times as much as 0.01 BTC, and 0.001 BTC is worth a tenth of 0.01 BTC.
How much is half a bitcoin?
Half a bitcoin is 0.5 BTC, which is simply the full price divided by two. You may also see it written as 50,000,000 sats. Wallets and sellers describe the same amount either way, so it helps to recognise both.
Reading small amounts: decimals or sats
Bitcoin amounts run to eight decimal places, which makes long numbers easy to misread. 0.0001 BTC and 0.001 BTC look alike at a glance, yet one is ten times the other. Count the zeros after the point carefully, or switch to sats.
One sat is 0.00000001 BTC, the smallest unit, and there are 100,000,000 in a bitcoin. Converting takes one step: multiply BTC by 100 million to get sats, or divide sats by 100 million to get BTC. So 0.0001 BTC is 10,000 sats and 0.01 BTC is 1,000,000 sats. The satoshi page covers the unit in more detail.
Why your result may differ from a buy quote
The calculator uses a market average with no fees. When you buy or sell through a service, its quote usually includes a spread, and some add a separate fee, so the amount you actually receive can be a little lower. The rate itself is explained on how prices work, and the same sums in other money are on pages such as Bitcoin in pounds.
