KSh, Ksh and KES are the same shilling
Kenyan prices are written several ways: KSh or Ksh on receipts and price tags, and KES as the official three-letter code used by banks. All of them mean the Kenyan shilling, so 1 bitcoin in ksh and 1 bitcoin in KES lead to the same price shown here.
That figure is for one whole bitcoin. It is the unit Bitcoin is quoted in everywhere, even though most people own far less than a full coin.
No more than 21 million bitcoin will ever exist, and each one can be split into very small parts. That is why the price per coin is large while the amounts people hold are often counted in thousands of sats rather than in coins.
Shilling amounts and their sats
Bitcoin divides into 100,000,000 satoshis. Right now KSh 1 gets you about 9.36 sats, which makes everyday sums easy to convert: KSh 500 is five hundred times that, KSh 1,000 a thousand times, and so on. Sats per shilling falls when the price rises, and climbs when it falls.
The table on this page lists KSh 500, KSh 1,000, KSh 5,000 and KSh 50,000 in BTC and sats using the live rate. For anything else, type it into the converter or open the Bitcoin calculator. The satoshi page explains the unit.
What the shilling chart and record include
The chart and the record on this page are drawn in shillings, not dollars. The highest shilling price so far is KSh 16,375,901, from 6 October 2025, and the 24-hour range gives the day’s low and high in shillings.
Because the shilling figure is converted from global trading, which happens mostly in US dollars, the line reflects two things: Bitcoin’s own price and the shilling’s exchange rate. A flat week for one can still show movement in the other, so look at both before reading much into a single day’s move.
Small differences between price sources
If another site shows a shilling price a little different from this one, that is expected. Sources differ in which trades they average, which exchange rate they apply and how often they refresh. Our page on how prices work explains the sources used here, so you know what you are comparing.
Compare the figures at the same minute, too. A screenshot from an hour ago, or a price rounded to the nearest thousand shillings, can account for the difference by itself.
