Bitcoin price in India, in lakh and crore
Rupee prices for Bitcoin are long numbers, and the Indian way of grouping digits helps. One lakh is ₹1,00,000 and one crore is ₹1,00,00,000, or 100 lakh. Written the international way, those are 100,000 and 10,000,000.
That is why this page also prints the price in words. A figure such as 90 lakh is a little under one crore, and 1.2 crore is the same as 120 lakh. Same amount, two ways of saying it. If you copy the number into a spreadsheet, the commas may move, but the value stays put.
One coin is the unit, not the minimum
The headline figure is what a complete bitcoin costs in rupees. Few people buy a whole one. Bitcoin divides into 100,000,000 pieces called satoshis, or sats, so any rupee amount converts into some number of them.
Today one rupee buys about 13 sats. Multiply by 100 for ₹100 and by 1,000 for ₹1,000. The second table on this page does that for ₹100, ₹1,000, ₹10,000 and ₹1,00,000, and the page on satoshis goes further. A balance of 5,000 sats is the same as 0.00005 BTC, just easier on the eye.
Where the rupee number comes from
Most Bitcoin trading worldwide happens in US dollars and dollar-linked stablecoins. A rupee price is usually that global price converted at the current dollar-rupee rate, so the INR figure can shift when the rupee strengthens or weakens, even on a quiet day for Bitcoin.
Rupee prices inside individual trading apps can sit a little above or below a converted global price, because they reflect trades between that app’s own users. Our explanation of price sources covers what this page uses and how often it refreshes.
What the INR chart includes
Just under the price sits the 24-hour range: the lowest and highest rupee figure over the past day. On a busy day that spread can be several lakh wide, which is one more reason the price in words is handy. It lets you compare the two ends without counting commas.
The 1-year chart is drawn in rupees, so its peaks and dips mix Bitcoin’s own moves with currency moves. For figures from earlier years, see the Bitcoin price history. If you are curious about supply rather than price, there is a page on how many bitcoin are left to mine.
